1940 Cadillac LaSalle – La Carrera Pamericana

1940 Cadillac La Salle type 40 – Turismo Production car.

Prepared for the 2015 La Carrera Panamericana this all steel body is fully modified with Mustang front suspension with coil-over’s and tubular upper- and lower-control arms.  Transmission is a Tremec five speed. Because of the Carrera rules, 5th gear is locked out. The engine is a General Motors 302 cubic inch with cast iron heads and a Holly 600 CFM double carburetor, dyno tested at 360 HP. Running Wilwood Disc brakes, MSD Ignition system with rev. limiter. A dual MSD, dual coil system. Bridgestone racing tyres with spare. Aluminum racing seats and five-point belts. Massive, safety roll cage.

Spare parts include: rotors, front and rear. Upper and lower a-arms with ball joint. Rear upper and lower control arms. Spare calipers, pads, shocks, bearings, front and rear. Stiffer rear springs.

Detailed Spec:

Engine: 302 Cubic inch G.M. Engine, balanced, and blueprinted. Built by Precision Race Engines in Tennessee. Billet Eagle 4340 Crankshaft. 4.030 Bore, 3 inch stroke. Eagle-H Rods, SRP Pistons, Lunati roller camshaft. Dart 55-165 Heads, 9.8:1 compression.   Dynoed at 361 H.P. @5900 rpm, 347 Corr Torq @4800 rpm. Plugs, NKG r5673-7. Canton 3 quart Accusump (automatic switch). MSD Digital 6AL ignition controller with backup unit mounted in car. MSD Blaster coil with backup coil mounted in car. MSD pro billet distributor. Canton oil cooler.

Transmission:     Tremec 500 wide-ratio road race transmission with 5th. gear blocked out to meet LCP Turismo Production specs. Hydraulic race (American muscle) throw-out bearing

Rear Axle: Schreiner (Ford) 9” full floater. Race axle shafts. 11.5 inch rotors. Wilwood 120-6816 calipers.

Rear suspension: Triangulated, four-bar set up with adjustable coils. Afco Racing shocks.

Front suspension: Mustang cross member, tubular upper and lower control arms. 600 lb. coil springs with internal shocks. (Car comes with QA1 coil over-kit, including 700 lb. springs and adjustable shocks that was not installed, buyers choice). Wilwood front brakes, 12.19 inch rotors, Wilwood 120-1260 Ultralite calipers. Flaming River manual steering rack.

Remote under-dash Wilwood Master Cylinders w/pressure gauges, and bias selector. Holly fuel pump and filter. 21 gallon fuel cell.

TerraTrip Radio w/ headsets. Kirkey aluminum race seats. Race Quip belts and window nets, Fire Sense Fire bottle 10 pound with manual bottle. Auxiliary fire system installed for engine compartment only. Fuel/air ratio gauge, Racequip gauges, LED lighting. Rear view camera.

Seven, 8 inch by 16 inch race wheels mounted with Bridgestone Potenza, RE-11 racing tires. 225/50R/16

Nine point roll bar, DOM tubing.

Passed technical inspection for La Carrera Panamericana with no problem and the coolest ride in the 2015 Carrera Panamericana. Ready to race in Chihuahua Express, April 21-24, 2016.
