An ex-works Toyota Supra Group A racing car, driven by the much-loved motorcycle double world champion Barry Sheene in the 1985 Trimoco RAC British Saloon Car Championship, comes up for auction at Silverstone Auctions’ Silverstone Classic Race Car Sale on 27th July.
A rare 1938 Lagonda LG6 leads the entry for Barons’ British Heritage, Classic & Sports Cars sale at Sundown Park on June 13th. This splendid machine, still bearing its original registration number FMA 52, has a memorable chassis number - 12345. It featured in Autocar magazine’s Use Car Test Report in December 1952 and spent 30 years in the United States from 1966-96. In recent years it has been the subject of much work and is a beautiful example of a magnificent British motor car. Estimate: £80,000-£95,000.
One Rolls-Royce connoisseur approached the marque with his own idea of a two-seat Rolls-Royce that he wanted to be created. That motor car is here, christened ‘Sweptail’. In a nod to the swept-tail of certain Rolls-Royces from the 1920s, admired by the client so much, he asked Rolls-Royce to reimagine this feature on his one-off motor car.
This Downton-tuned 1966 Austin Cooper 998 is to be presented at Classic Car Auctions sale in Warwick on 10th June. The well-documented 1967 ‘Touring’ conversion complete with detailed Downton invoices and records. The car has covered just 70 miles since a recent full mechanical restoration to strictly original specifications. Offered for sale with an estimate of £35,000 to £40,000 at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday 10thJune.
